Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS
Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all
interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we
will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices,
check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away
from home. (0 comments | Add)

Speaking in the new 100th issue of the United Kingdom's STAR TREK MONTHLY, actor Scott Bakula says the cast isn't shy about baring large portions of skin for ENTERPRISE's more "sensual" take on the TREK franchise.
"Oh we’re not scared of that," he told journalist Michael A. Martin. "I think that this show has a more natural, realistic feel to it. You think, ‘What does the Captain sleep in?’ So we started having those kinds of conversations. ‘If we’re down on the desert planet (like in 'Desert Crossing'), why don’t we do an episode that’s like Top Gun, where they’re out there banging around playing volleyball?’ We’re not forcing it - it’s a hot Desert planet.”
The actor also ponders his character's personal back story, such as what happened to his father Henry Archer, who was integral in creating the warp five engine.
"We know that he died, but we don’t know how he died. We haven’t heard a thing about my mother yet, or if I have any siblings," he says. "I think the luxury we have here is that because they feel they have a fair amount of time to get these stories told..."
Bakula says he's excited to be involved in the early formation of the Federation, a key element of all previous STAR TREK series. One first step may be the introduction of more Starfleet Starships sooner rather than later.
"You have to think that at some point, if we’re around long enough, that there’s going to be another Starship. The Vulcan’s are obviously hesitant for us to send any more out. But there’s this sense of progression that’s happening here, and the experience and knowledge that we’re garnering is pointing us toward the beginnings of a Federation. This will be fantastic to be involved in."

DEAR PARAMOUNT

Hello There..
A letter writing campaign cannot be ignored if the same ideas are put forward. I am suggesting that all concerned fans email editor@startrek.com or television@pde.paramount.com and copy and paste this text in your email:
Dear sirs and madams,
I am a member of the devoted fanbase of the Star Trek franchise. While not as numerous as the weekly watchers of other programs, we are dedicated and loyal fans who watch and rewatch the shows, pay for tickets to the movies, and purchase DVDs and paraphenalia in numbers that outshine any major television entity, and ranks up there with the most successful feature films.
Unfortunately, it seems that the producers of the franchise have lost touch with the fanbase of Star Trek. While many of us still tune in, it is easy to see how the numbers are decreasing.
Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem. In terms of "Enterprise", the fanbase (which is large.. look at the numbers for The next Generation") is less interested in Sex and effects, and more interested in Storylines that develop characters not only as they are, but that develop the characters in a forward moving way. Stagnation has been the problem, and allowing characters to grow and change in their personal situation and in their relationships will solve this problem. In terms of the movies, we are lessinterested in Action, and more interested in development of characters in moral conundrums, that tightly filmed action sequences lend themselves to. Keep in mind that the most popular episodes of "The Next Generation" managed to take place almost exclusively on the ship.
The advantage to you is that such episodes and movies will cost less to produce, bringing you a higher profit, while allowing the fans to bacome attached to the show. Analyze what works about 24, ER, CSI, even Friends. Characters grow and change. VIP had plenty of sex and action, and failed.
Thank you for your attention,

I think the staff of 'Enterprise' have done a wonderful job of casting. I have been a fan of Mr. Bakula since 'Quantum Leap'.
'Enterprise' is in good hands with Scott! I believe that he should be given the chance to write, direct and or produce future episodes of 'Enterprise'.
It would also be interesting if he were given the chance to develope the Archer family history in the up-coming seasons.
Live Long and Prosper Scott Bakula!

I agree that he seems to know what the fans want, i think personally enterprise shows alot of potential and if judged own its on the episodes have been very good, i think what dissapoints most people is that with the next generation and deepspace nine there was the story of the klingons, romulans, deepspace nine had the dominion and the war etc and when enterprise started they abandoned all that and it was left with us not knowing the end of that story, with enterprise people thought sure were not seeing the end of the story but were seeing the beginning, and the fact that it isn't dealing with such subjects as the formation of the federation is a dissapointment, but im sure like any major event in history it took time, several years, if we formed the federation now then where would the series go, i think as a whole the series is ver good but it needs to be brought into the startrek universe a bit more, we need to see more klingons, more alien races we have come across before, some people may argue that this is repeating TNG DS9 etc but personally this is a prequel show how we met these races, wouldnt it be cool to see a story with the formation of the borg, if the borg had lied about the fact that they have existed forever, that a computer malfunction made them believe this but it was simply an error with cybernetics that triggered their creation, wudnt it be great if it was archer who caused this, it would tie events in TNG DS9 and Voy together with enterprise, do things like that and i believe the viewers would flood in

I honestly do believe they are trying to get it right after such a lousy beginning. When this show first went on the air, I'm sure they were expecting the usual outcry of fans who felt cheated. But the issues with this show were greivous, and I'm sure we all wish we could put it all behind us.
This little bit of news is heartening, although the federation isn't due to be formed for at least nine years from this point in the series, I look forward to the possibility of a show ABOUT the UFP, and with Trip as a captain of his own starship. The show has been repairing it's own damaged image incurred during season one, it shouldn't have taken this long, but it's great to see that they're really trying to do right by the fans.
As far as the sensuality of the show, it's so self conscious, and it comes across as such. Now, I have no qualms about seeing Hoshi nearly nude, but I think they're losing perspective here. On TOS, the skin factor was ordinary as the women wore mini-skirts, but they make such a big deal about the decon gel rubbing scenes, the underwear and T'Pol's catsuit that she stole from 7 of 9. It just seems a little bit much, but if that's what they need to do to pull in ratings, then I guess that's what they have to do.

Thoughts on Bakula...

I really like Bakula as an actor, but my thought is that his talents have been under-used thus far. It seems that the reasoning behind that may be the "we've got 7 seasons" mentality we're reading about often. I think that perception may be a large part of problems with ENT so far. I'd say that the people involved should treat the show like other shows...as if it could be the last one. Maybe that would boost quality?

Well I was preparing myself for a nice big bashing session after reading the first two paragraphs, but after Bakula's talk of Starfleet, the Federation and his family I decided to layoff this time.
Now if more people (specificly Berman, Braga and the writing staff) can give us all similar tidbits - perhaps we would all shut up and watch?
I think Berman or someone on the ENT team should get a column or something on a website like this to address fan concerns - it would work.

Bakula and Enterprise

Bakula seems to have his head screwed on well. He knows the kind of questions the show should be addressing, such as what happened to Henry Archer? Will there be more starships sent out? How will the Federation be formed?
All this whilst the writers are saying that they concentrate on character development over plot; when most episodes have been a "wouldn't it be cool if a or b happened".
They should be asking questions and seeking ways to address those questions and provide answers as the series develops.
I'd like them to ask questions at the beginning of each year concentrating on all aspects, for example:
CHARACTER
How is Mayweather going to develop this year? What can we do to give him some individuality? How can we do this through conflict?
THE CREW
Can we take some risks? Do we have to have them all on the ship at the same time? Can't we seperate them? Have some missing in action for several episodes, and come back changed? Are any expendable? We are the first ship out here, shouldn't we be having more casualties?
STORY
Where do we want to be in the temporal cold war by the end of the season? What do we want to reveal? What interesting twists can we unravel? How does this fit in with the birth of the Federation?
I could go on. But you get the gist.

How would you rate the latest ENT episode, DAWN, on a scale from 1 (bad) to 10 (excellent) in comparison to the best and the worst episodes of all previous Star Trek episodes?
