Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS
Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all
interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we
will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices,
check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away
from home. (0 comments | Add)

Dept: Star Trek: Nemesis
STAR TREK NEMESIS debuted last weekend in Germany and Austria and Variety reports that the film grossed an estimated $3.2 million in 800 theatres in Germany, with an additional $266,000 from 59 theatres in Austria. NEMESIS's performance is called a "stellar debut" by the trade paper, which notes that it was also against the premiere of the Spielberg/DiCaprio film CATCH ME IF YOU CAN.
But in comparison to the previous pic in the franchise, 1998's STAR TREK: INSURRECTION, NEMESIS certainly appears wanting. According to archival data available at the paper, INSURRECTION debuted with $7,966,409 in only 702 theatres, a figure more than double the NEMESIS take. The ninth TREK went on to gross $16,588,856 in Germany overall, its opening weekend accounting for nearly 48% of its total take. This makes a total German box office of around $6.5 million likely for NEMESIS.
The story is similar for Austria, which provided a $674,413 opening gross for INSURRECTION in 48 theatres four years ago, eleven less than NEMESIS. The prior film went on to gross $1,193,011 total in Austria.
NEMESIS added another $450,000 to its domestic pot this weekend for a 24th place finish in 755 less theatres than the week prior, according to Box Office Mojo. This brings the domestic total to $42,450,000 while the worldwide gross currently stands at $47,573,428.

The Germany & Austria Boxoffice numbers listed above are for the full week, while Nemesis total is for the weekend only. Full week results for Nemesis will surely fall below Insurrection but the difference won't be as much.

I was just looking through today's paper and it said that Kangaroo one with Jerry O'Connell came in #1...and yet Star Trek didn't even get to have that in its opening weekend.

Meanwhile, here in the good ol' USA...

Here in my hometown in the USA, not even one month after its theatrical release, NEMESIS was pulled out of theatres and can now be seen in the three "buck-fifty" theatres that normally plays movies that have been out for awhile.
Maybe this is a new marketing approach by Paramount- by moving the movie to the cheap theatres, maybe there will be more people interested in seeing it, and will thus makeup for the smaller ticket price...assuming, of course, that Rick Berman is like the Founders of DS9- you don't question him, he is always right.
If you'll excuse me, I'll try to beat that into my head...

The series "Enterprise" hasn't even debuted in Germany yet, so you definitely can't blame it for anything. No, I think people are just tired of scifi. The hard core remains, but not the rest.
