Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced
players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the
turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses,
bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near
the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original
Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS
Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all
interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is
superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we
will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices,
check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away
from home. (0 comments | Add)

they should make some mini series for Voyager and maybe a few with the mix of casts. GEt the right people to write them (not Braga) and you could get good ratings.

A Bold New Idea

I have a suggestion to help raise the flagging Trek franchise, although many who read this at first will think I'm mad. But hear me out.
Why not make more Star Trek movies, but instead of releasing it into theatres, make it a "straight to home video" series? It'll be very cheap to make and market compared to making a theatrical release, and it might do for Trek as it has similarly done for the Austin Powers franchise- the first movie in theatres actually tanked, but it was only after it was released in home video that it gathered an incredible widespread fan gathering, to the point that when they finally made the second Austin Powers movie, the box office just boomed for the franchise. I think Trek should seriously consider taking a page out of this book. Later, when fan popularity builds up again, they can make a theatrical release movie and bring in the boo-koo bucks.
Maybe you guys won't agree with me at first, but hey, it's at least a brave bold new idea...

Steve has said that by vocalizing on this site we are being heard. Please keep doing so.
Thank you Steve for not banning me and deleting my rants.
SOmetimes you just have a moment when you feel something strongly. I don't hate ENT, nor do I hate NEM.. like I said, I've seen NEM multiple times.
I'm sure we all feel this way sometimes. Me, the ranter.. and the naysayers saying "Let Trek Die".. and the Haters.. all of us Love Trek, we just are reacting differently to the same situation.
Roddenberry said once that he hopes there will be Trek one day in some form 50 years from now. I hope so too. I think we can see that.
Today I rewatched "The First Duty". An episode based aroung conflict. The best kind of conflict, too.
Someone posted that they want more pathos in the characters. I agree. I could do with fewer Space Battles and fist fights and gel rubdowns and more complex character Drama. That is where Trek soars.
B&B.. a list of episodes to rewatch..
"The Visitor" "The Inner Light" "Darmok" "The Best Of Both Worlds" "Brothers" "The Siege of...(DS9)" "In The Pale Moonlight" "City On The Edge Of Forever" "Family" "Sarek" "Chain Of Command 2"
See, greatness is possible. "Dawn" was a good start.. but why not give us Hoshi's backstory, Trip's traumas, Archers Driving need from what? His Father.. Why?
You get the idea.

Dear Berman and Braga:

Since Steve has said B & B read these forums "regularly," I have a comment to make to you two. I have noticed that the better Trek series were about characters who the audience could relate to. In saying that, what I mean is that they are sometimes deeply flawed characters with a lot of pain to deal with. Think about it. Kirk lost his brother. He was also scared to age, to lose his ship. Spock had a broken relationship with his father and lost his bride-to-be. Riker had a poor relationship with his father. Picard always regretted his decision not to have a family, and there was a lot of pain in his life regarding his brother. In the end, Picard's family died in a fire. Geordi's mother was killed. Data was alone in the universe, and for a long time he had no one. McCoy killed his own father out of mercy. Sisko's wife was murdered by the Borg. Sisko was consumed with hate for Picard and the Borg. Kira's life was spent in prison and battling the Cardassians. Worf was an orphan, and always an outsider. Bashir had a terrible secret to hide, one so bad that it consumed him for years. Okay --- have I made my point now? So let me ask you this Mr. Berman and Mr. Braga --- what pain do the characters from ENT have? What pain does Archer have? Tucker? Reed? As for T'Pol -- this episode is a good start to showing more about her. HOWEVER, you have to start investigating these characters. I for one enjoy the cast and the setting, however, this season has been dreadful. A NIGHT IN SICKBAY and PRECIOUS CARGO are perhaps 2 of the worst episodes ever written. The sickbay episode is worse than SPOCK'S BRAIN! Let's explore these characters. Let's hurt them. Let's see them deal with pain. Let's see them hurt so bad they want to kill themselves. Let's see them watch in horror as family members are brutally tortured and murdered before their eyes. Let's see them have to sacrifice a loved one for the good of the ship or the Federation. There is a whole universe of things to do here ... and yet we get episodes that are remakes of previous ones (i.e. Precious Cargo). Use your characters. How did Archer's father die? It seems many episodes are getting "gimicky" -- i.e., tonight's episode is about the Romulans! The Tholians!? The Ferengi!? Kirk's father? Duras's father? The Andorians? To hell with all these gimicks -- let's use the character's that you have already created. You know, there was a kernel of wisdom in Star Trek V --- Kirk says something along the lines of, "I need my pain! It makes me who I am!" And he's right. If every week we watch ENT and nothing significant happens to the characters, then who will care about them? Why are you scared to hurt these people? If you do what I suggest, then in the end, you will make them human. And you know what? Viewers want to watch human beings. We want to see them suffer and experience pain and hardship, because that's what reality is. That's what the real world is like. So I challenge you B & B, do something dramatic with the characters. Don't be scared -- what could it hurt? Ratings are declining, fans are unhappy. Look to previous series that were successful. You can't deny the examples I gave at the start of this message. What bad things have happened to the ENT crew? Hoshi? Don't know a thing about her past. Has she had harship? Pain? What about Reed? Ditto. Tucker? Ditto. Phloxx? Ditto. Go challenge your writers to hurt these people. Trust me - The audience will appreciate it, and the actors will enjoy the acting more. Good luck. Oh - kudos to this episode about T'Pol. I think it sounds like a step in the right direction.

If it's as good as the excellent DS9 Companion book, it should be well informed and put together. I hope we'll get to see a pic of Ms. Bujold in uniform from her two days of hell.

Reasons behind the rant.
By Toroth's 1st Officer

Here's the top 10 reasons why.
10) Releasing Nemesis Next To Potter, Bond, Rings, Santa, Spielberg, Scorcese, and the rest. Jan/Feb?most of march was FREE and CLEAR!
9) Cutting Wesley, Guinan, Beverly, but keeping in a long car chase
8) Insurrection - Sequels do business based on the last one released. We lost support there, my friend.
7) Enterprise - Would Roddenberry go into the past? They trapped themselves in a bottle, to give us gimmicks, Baseball caps and sex.
6) Advertising - I saw the Nemesis trailer in theatres TWICE.. both in October. Where was my Attack of the Clones Star Trek Trailer. What about my LOTR Trek Trailer?
5) Voyager - Dinosaurs, Boxing Aliens, and Skintight suits? We have come from "The Inner Light" to THIS?!!
4) DS9 - B+B left it alone and it thrived thanks to Ron Moore and Rene E... but they never Marketed it. It could have been alone, gotten TNG viewers as it was getting good, and snagged the rest like it snagged me.
3) Milking to death - Enterprise on UPN, TNG on TNN, DS9 coming to DVD, Star Trek Movies round the clock, Games every month, Books even more often.. And we wonder why no one is Paying 7 bucks to see new trek? Why are we no longer setting our VCRs to tape Enterprise? OVERKILL
2) Re: More Nemesis.. Bringing in Stuart Baird? WTF??!! Logan's movie in the hands of Frakes, Carson, Meyer.. Baird gave us Fast paced action.. good for him. I get angry because I see how close it could have been to great.
1) THEY ARE OUT OF IDEAS! But so many are not. Look at the books, Fan Fiction, John Logan (WHo had some great ones), And Ron Moore is out there somewhere.
There is life in the franchise. I'm NOT bashing it. I want it to get better, and I truly believe it can.

How fashionable it is to bash VOY on this site....
Popularity and Quality are not mutually exclusive. Simply because VOY was popular does not mean that it was poor.
I think VOY had some great moments and many good characters. ENT is so bad that I'm nostalgic for VOY

STEVE KRUTZLER, We need your Help!

I'm angry.
I just watched Nemesis again.
You know what.. it wasn't that bad. But it failed. And Enterprise isn't that bad. And its failing. Nemesis had flaws and potential, unlike insurrection.. and its flaws were left while its potential was squandered. Enterprise has great strengths, yet they are squandered in lieu of its weaker sides.. WHY?
Pandering to the lowest common denominator.
We need your Help, Steve Krutzler, Owner of TrekWeb!
SHAME ON YOU, BERMAN AND BRAGA! How dare you. You are destroying Roddenberry's Dream.
You are KILLING Star Trek. And we, the fans, are tired of it. We will lose this universe we love, and have looked forward to since 1966, and at least since 1987.
Why can't you do what is necessary to keep it around. If Soap Operas can come up with storylines to keep viewers daily for 60 years, why CAN'T YOU!? If The CHEERS/FRASIER universe can thrive for so long, why Can't Trek? If a hundred successful shows can be made about A bunch of people living or working together in apartments of offices.. If X-MEN and SPIDER-MAN can continue to Sell Comics and Tickets after 40 years.. WHY NOT TREK?!!
FOr PITY'S SAKE! You have a Freaking UNIVERSE OF RACES AND STARSHIPS AND POTENTIAL!!
Steve, We need your Help.
Fans.. get mad. If you are here, you want Trek to live. WE DON'T WANT GIMMICKS! WE DON"T WANT T&A! We don't want Guys with big Knives on posters!
STEVE! I CHALLENGE YOU!! You have the ability to rally us. Pull us together, and help us get a message through. YOU CAN FIND OUT HOW TO GET IT THROUGH!
Help us, Steve.

How dare anyone make a companion book for Voyager! I mean, come on people, we all know Voyager was the black eye for Paramount. Granted, Enterprise may be the first series cancelled since TOS, but really, Voyager is still the most horrible Trek series ever! I mean, any show that still holds the place as most watched episodes for a network, even a baby one like UPN must be horrible. But not just that... Clearly Voyager's writing is wanting compared to Enterprise's, the unbelievable ratings obviously prove that. And the caliber of the characters as compared to Voyagers, especially Doctor Phlox compared to the EMH... No competition! But in the end, we have to realize that I am being very sarcastic, and have no doubt that my inaugural post will either receive many angry responses demeaning everything from my grammar to my mother's hair do, wife's tattoo of a flower on her ankle, choice of clothing when I go to work, and my obvious wanting intelligence for liking a show that was honestly a good one. Or, no response. In a way that would be worse, especially if I don’t read from the fans who agree that Voyager was really a good show, not the best, but over all entertaining and fun to watch. The characters, decently developed and approachable… Episodes, not Emmy breed but some of the best for Trek… And the actors, maybe not worthy of the fantastic careers beyond Trek awaiting them like the Enterprise cast a season from now, but at least credible to the industry. If I really did piss anyone off, this is all just an Acutane buzz, so I apologize. (Now come on Voyager haters, my shields are way down for that one!)
