Connor Trinner Surprised by 'Trip' Role and Linda Park Hopes 'Hoshi' Inspires

PROMENADE

Place an ad today!

Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses, bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices, check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away from home.

Speaking in the latest issue of Dreamwatch magazine, Connor Trinneer says he wasn't expecting his character 'Trip Tucker' to have as sizeable a role as has been written thusfar.

"To be honest with you I didn't know that was going to be the deal," Trinneer says. "I didn't know that they were modeling Archer-T'Pol-Trip after Kirk-Spock-McCoy from the original series. When I opened up the pilot script I really had no clue that I'd have the size of role that I do. It was a little bit nerve-wracking but it was also a challenge and I'm up for any challenge. So it was nice."

The actor says he hopes to get an episode where Trip can explore a quieter, introspective side.

"I'm curious to see some of his stillness," he explains. "I'd like to see him in a quiet moment. I'd like to see Trip have to handle a situation internally, personally, singularly and give it the time. I don't know if that will ever happen, but I think that would be rather fascinating. You get so much of the other side of him, but the pendulum swings in both directions, always, and I'd like to see the other side."

Linda Park spoke with the San Jose Mercury News on Wednesday about her acting dreams and the ENTERPRISE gig. Park says her mother initially suggested that becoming an actress might be easier in South Korea than Hollywood.

"I felt that I'm a Korean-American and America was my home, so I should be able to follow my dream here,'' Park says. ``And once somebody tells me I can't do something, then I'm going to do it, and just watch me do it.''

The young actress says she hopes she can inspire women of ethnicity to follow their dreams in America.

"Maybe it helps other mothers or young girls or young boys who want to pursue this dream, but feel like the color of their skin will make it too hard.''

You can read more with Park, including discussion of how the toned-down Hoshi compares to the actress, here.

This news item made me wonder... after VOYAGER debuted back in '95, I almost immediately lost interest. I keep hearing references to how Robert Beltran either blew his stack or went public with some nasty comments about VOYAGER. What exactly was said? Just curious... I know next-to-nothing about anything VOYAGER-related.

I agree. I would love to see that side of Trip. thats the kind of stuff i want to see more of on ent. I love the people but i want MORE of them, and I think Connor has it right here. They need to listen to the actors a bit.

And as far as linda park goes...well..she's my pick for star trek babe right now...the heck with T'Pol, I am all about the Hoshi!

Its so nice to see actors truly greatful for getting to work on Star Trek instead of being big headed 'I makde the show what it is' kind of people (yes I know you can jibe at Enterprise here but you know what I mean).

Makes a refreshing change!

Nemesis had all the right buttons there waiting to be pressed, but like Data on a Reman keypad Paramount seem to have pushed the wrong ones. :/
