Borg Queen Suiting Up Again -- Alice Krige Returning for Las Vegas 'Encounter'

PROMENADE

Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses, bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices, check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away from home.

The Borg have been front and center this week with the news that the STAR TREK prequel series ENTERPRISE will air its first Borg-centered episode toward the end of the current television season (story), and now the Borg Queen will be back as well. But not on the small screen as she was for the final episode of STAR TREK: VOYAGER.

Rather, Alice Krige, who played the role in 1996's STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT and VOYAGER's "Endgame," will again don the cybernetic suit for a new 3-D attraction at the Las Vegas STAR TREK: THE EXPERIENCE. According to Sci-Fi Wire, BORG ENCOUNTER was originally created for a theme park in Germany but will end up at the Paramount Parks attraction in Vegas.

"The people who did the Terminator ride for Universal are in the process of completing this ride, and the process is even more sophisticated and intricate and complex now," Krige told Sci-Fi Wire. "So I got to do the Borg Queen in 3-D."

The actress says she did her best to perform alone for just blue screens and 3-D cameras.

"It was me completely alone for three days on a blue-screen stage, surrounded by blue screens and two 3-D cameras," she said. "The interaction is different because there was no adversary. In both the Voyager finale and First Contact there were good, powerful protagonists there with me. But I did my best and we'll see what emerges."

VOYAGER cast mates Robert Picardo and Kate Mulgrew will also contribute to the attraction. Picardo will introduce the ride and Mulgrew will make a special appearance toward the end.

Krige's next big role will be in the Sci-Fi Channel's six-hour miniseries CHILDREN OF DUNE, airing March 16-18. Krige plays 'Lady Jessica' in sci-fi epic. Read more of the original story here.

I've always wanted to go back to the Vegas Experience, but it never seemed like they would update anytihng. And I'm glad to hear that Kirge will be involved, she was one of the few redeeming qualities of Endgame.

I was at the Universal Orlando Terminator 3D attraction last March... And in that you walk into a standing area, watching viewscreens... and then sit in a theatre for a 3d show with actors replacing the stars... It was cool, but not like the Trek or Back to the Future rides...

Now, if it's like the 3D Spiderman ride... that would be way cool...

I wonder how much cash they fork out to the performers?
