FINAL RATINGS: "Future Tense" Can't Build on "Cease Fire" Gain, Still Low on the Season

PROMENADE

Place an ad today!

Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses, bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices, check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away from home.

Last Wednesday's first-run presentation of the ENTERPRISE episode "Future Tense" was well received by fans and scored the prequel series' highest overnight ratings of the new year (story). Unfortunately, in the final audience numbers available today via the Los Angeles Times, the episode was unable to build on its predecessor's increase the prior week.

"Cease Fire" was watched by 4.78 million viewers in the second week of February Sweeps, but "Future Tense" lost some of that gain, turning in a viewership of 4.62 million viewers. While the final ratings figure is not yet available, it's likely that "Tense" scored a similar 2.9. With 4.62 million viewers, "Future Tense," was watched by more people than "Vanishing Point" (3.78m), "The Communicator" (4.46m), "Dawn" (3.99m) and "Stigma" (4.4m), but still short of the season highs set by "Minefield" (5.25m), "Dead Stop" (5.41m), "A Night In Sickbay" (6.26) and "Marauders" (5.6m).

ENTERPRISE was #2 on UPN last week, behind WWE, which scored a 3.4/5 rating. Rival WB also bested the Paramount network with a weekly average of 3.8 million viewers compared to UPN's 3.5 million (2.4/4 vs. 2.3/3). In the Adults 18-49 ranking, the WB won with a 1.7 to UPN's 1.5.

You can read more at the L.A. Times. We'll update this story with the final rating figure once it becomes available.

you have to start being consistently good if you want to up the ratings, a few good episodes won't do that alone.

Ratings puzzler

What I don't understand is- a) The so-called final ratings DON'T include people who might wait for the weekend re-air in some markets, and b) Those non-UPN markets that get ENT in a syndicated deal. Here in UPN-less Fort Wayne, IN, Enterprise airs Saturdays. So there are more ENT viewers out there that are NOT counted in these numbers.

Cease Fire won't do magic

Of course not. It's going to take a long time before the ratings improve. Actually it would be a historical event for Star Trek in the last 10 years.

Anyway, I just watched "Cease Fire" and I don't understand why people liked it more than other episodes. The beginning was weak, sorry to say, I don't like these kind of beginnings where you just jump into a wierd situation. There is no build up, no reason for what happens, and no beauty about the whole thing. It wasn't believeable that Shran wanted Archers help, but the real problem was that Archer could actually solve the problem. That kind of heroism is pure fantasy, and not realistic.

What did we learn from the episode? That Shran was betrayed by an Andorian woman who didn't believe in a peaceful solution with the Vulcans. That scenario is so simple, it only need 2 minutes screen time, not 43.. I'm sorry..

It was nice to see a few recurring characters (Shran, Duvall and Earth's president) but I don't understand why you suddenly think positive about this episode, in contrast to other episodes. Was it because of the mindless action?

that a night in sickbay is the highest rated episode this season. hopefully that is not the new direction the show is heading...

Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey! Xander (Buffy vs. Dracula)

"Future Tense," was watched by more people than only "Vanishing Point" (3.78m) and "The Communicator" (4.46m)

Actually it also had more viewers than "Dawn" (3.99m) and "Stigma" (4.40m).

ENT has at least achieved some stability. All 3 Feb sweeps episodes getting the same rating (2.9), while going against tougher than usual competition on FOX and ABC.
