Roxann Dawson and Robert Duncan McNeill Talk Frenetic ENT Directing Experiences

PROMENADE

Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses, bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices, check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away from home.

StarTrek.com has posted the second part of its Seattle convention report, featuring remarks from VOYAGER actors and ENTERPRISE directors Roxann Dawson and Robert Duncan McNeill. The two answered fan questions at the Creation Entertainment event about their directorial experiences on ENTERPRISE.

"We get the script very late, as Robbie can attest, and there are changes constantly being made," Roxann said. "One of the shows I did, I got my fourth act when we were already into four days of shooting. I didn't know the end of the story when we were shooting the beginning. I try to go in there with a strong idea of what this story is trying to say, and sometimes halfway through the writers go, 'no we're changing it now, it means something else.' But I do try to make sure that thematically something is coherent, so when we end up in the editing room we have a story."

McNeill agreed, citing his recent completion of the Doctor Phlox-centric episode "The Breach," which didn't have its conclusion decided until late in the shoot.

"John Billingsley had a big doctor storyline, and we didn't have the third or the fourth act when we started," McNeill explained. "[John] had a scene one day where he was supposed to kinda break down, but we hadn't seen the fourth act. It was all about some big secret that [Phlox] was going to reveal in the fourth act — and he said to me, what is this secret? And I didn't know, none of us knew. So we made the phone calls and they gave us some idea of what it was going to be. But literally sometimes you can start shooting the episode and you don't know what the secret is that you're hiding the whole episode."

Dawson also revealed that she will be helming the second-to-last episode of the season, which begins pre-production next week, and talked about how producer Rick Berman convinced her to voice the alien computer in her episode earlier this year, "Dead Stop." The report contains additional remarks from DS9 actors Marc Alaimo ('Dukat'), Casey Biggs ('Damar') and Jeffrey Combs ('Weyoun', 'Shran'). You can reach that report here.

Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey! Xander (Buffy vs. Dracula)

It would seem Braga's amateurish way of running the show has simply carried over from Voyager to Enterprise.

Considering the amount of shows written by Berman and Braga, this news really doesn't come as a suprise.

*Sigh*

this explains a whole lot. b&b cobbled this show together in the first place and they've been doing the same ever since.
