Typhon Station is a very fastpaced PBeM RPG with skilled, experienced players and a warm sense of bonding and community. We play at the turn-of-the-century, 2400, and are located in the Typhon Expanses, bordering the Neutral Zone, proximate to the Romulan Empire, and near the Iconian Digs, and are on the first warning route of the original Borg Incursion.
We have three stations to post from, SB 185, USS Odyssey, and USS Wraith. They all have general and particular storylines and all interact. This game is not for the faint of heart! The writing is superb and comes hot and heavy. We have some open spots and also we will consider character suggestions. So, longtime RPGers and novices, check us out. See if you want to make Typhon Station your home away from home.

Businesswire announced today that IDT Media’s Digital Production Solutions has acquired the rights to create and produce two animated feature films based on the works of Gene Roddenberry.

The two movies, GENE RODDENBERRY’S STARPOINT ACADEMY and GENE RODDENBERRY’S CHAR, are concepts created by Roddenberry prior to his death in 1991. The movies will be executive produced by his widow, Majel Barrett Roddenberry, along with Eric Gardner, chairman of Panacea Entertainment, and Karen Corbin, former senior vice-president of programming and development for Tribune Entertainment.

Howard Jonas, chairman of IDT Media, stated, “This is exciting. Acquiring two stories by Gene Roddenberry is like finding long lost unpublished manuscripts of Shakespeare or Hemingway in an old trunk in the attic. Now a new generation of fans will be able to experience what no generation has before: Gene Roddenberry’s visions on the big screen in 3-D.”

“Gene and I had often discussed the wonderful possibilities available in storytelling for these younger audiences,” said Majel Roddenberry. “These projects will bring alive his positive vision of science, exploration and adventure to a new generation.”

STARPOINT ACADEMY takes places on Starpoint Pharos, an artificial planet that houses emissaries of peace from every galaxy. Against the cosmic United Nations-style backdrop, a group of teenagers are recruited to be part of the Astari Rangers. CHAR is the story of a girl, raised in a normal 24th century Earth environment, who discovers that she is in fact an intergalactic princess who has been robbed of her birthright.

IDT Media will keep Roddenberry fans informed of production concepts and schedules through their website, www.starpointacademy.net, which will be launched in the coming weeks.

I thought that statement about Roddenberry was a bit much, as well. But I'm sure these will be interesting. I've always wanted to see them produce stuff that takes place in the Trek universe but is completely detached and independent from the stuff they've shown us thus far. We've only ever seen this universe from the perspective of a Starfleet vessel. Even an animated movie would be great--I've just been watching the Matrix cartoons and they're pretty cool.

oh brother...Shakespeare? They've got to be kidding. I respect Roddenberry for what he created, but you only have to read a few books on the history of Trek to understand that it wasn't all his doing. True, there would be no Star Trek without him - but you could make that same statement about several other people.
