German STAR TREK site Voyager-Center.de reports that Saturday's German premiere of ENTERPRISE on the Sat.1 network drew the largest audience for a TREK broadcast since the premiere of STAR TREK: VOYAGER in June of 1996.

The fifth TREK series was seen by 3.21 million viewers, scoring a 10% share of the audience. In the key demographic of Adults 14-49, it was seen by 2.39 million, giving it a whopping 19.1% share of the group.

The broadcast was up against German versions of popular shows WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? and AMERICAN IDOL. ENTERPRISE will air regularly Fridays at 8:15 PM. Sat.1 is the second-largest private television operator in the German market.

Until those numbers start dropping. So what if it had a big premiere? ENT had a big one in the U.S. and look how sharply those numbers fell.

I saw it. I think the TV channel did a fair job at promoting the series with slogans like "awaited by millions of people" and the evening was nicely changed in the name of Star Trek. Before the pilot went on the air, they had something about german football but the interviews in the studio (with players and trainers) changed, so the music was from Star Trek and people got "beamed" onto the platform. Good stuff, at least for us Trekkers. ;o)

Unfortunately they sent the whole pilot in mono sound for some unknown reason. But anyway, it was nice. 4 hours of Star Trek on 1 Saturday, since they also gave us one episode of DS9 and one of VOY as they usually do.

I truly hope this series will do good in Germany.
