Veteran stage and television actor Jordan Lund has the honor of tackling the first major Tellarite character in STAR TREK since the original series episode "Journey to Babel" in the upcoming ENTERPRISE episode "Bounty." In the episode, Lund plays 'Skalaar', a bounty hunter enlisted by the Klingons to capture rogue 'Captain Jonathan Archer' (Scott Bakula) (story).

Journey to Babel"Bounty" will mark the first major appearance of the Tellarites since TOS and many fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the second TOS-era race to appear prominently in the prequel series (the Andorians have become major players since their introduction to the prequel universe in season one's "The Andorian Incident"). Lund stopped by TrekWeb's own STAR TREK BBS this weekend to whet appetites for the May 14th episode.

"I just finished shooting my scenes on Thursday night, in the second to last episode of the season, 'Bounty," Lund wrote in the Suliban Helix forum. "I played 'Skalaar', the bounty hunter. We were all very excited to finally bring back this great race."

TOS-era Tellarite make-upMake-up artist Michael Westmore has publicly expressed his excitement at the prospect for revisiting the Tellarite make-up, which was characterized in TOS with a sort of pig-like facial structure (see photos). Lund says fans will be blown away by the updated look, and can look forward to some additional characteristics for the Tellarites.

"The makeup for both of us is amazing. The wizards of ENTERPRISE won't disappoint," he says. "There are some characteristics of the original," he continued, referencing the Tellarite tendency towards loud and obnoxiousness that fans may recall from "Journey to Babel." "But there some new and more realistic aspects to our personalities."

TrekWeb asked Jordan whether he'd like to take your questions about the Tellarites and "Bounty" for an interview to be published here soon. His response? "Bring it on!" Accordingly, we're happy to provide this opportunity for TrekWeb readers to interact with Jordan. To submit your question(s), visit this page.

The actor also asked fans in the forum to express their thoughts about the return of the Tellarites. You can reach the original post here. You can learn more about Jordan Lund at JordanLund.com.

The only thing this news made me and anyone I know who was a fan of the original series do, is roll their eyes because they are Recycling Another alien instead of creating New Aliens.

Pure lasiness.

Actually, the Tellarites made a fleeting appearance in the Federation Council chambers in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home," as did the Andorians.

Hopefully, if Skalaar doesn't get killed in "Bounty," he can become the Tellarite equivalent of Shran.
