Having broken the high E string for a third time and the D string for a second time in a week, I think I can safely say I've semi-mastered Eddie's LIGHT UP THE SKY guitar solo. But no, this isn't a clue to today's Van Halen trivia question. You will, however, find a Van Halen connection in one of yesterday's tribblets, if you look carefully, proving the naysayers who would dare ask what the heck Van Halen has to do with STAR TREK absolutely wrong. Can you spot it?
When I decided to embark upon this daily (cough) column on Monday, I had no clue whether I'd find enough material to fill the void each day. Much to my surprise, day three has arrived and yet again there is a veritable smorgas board of STAR TREK news tribblets ripe for the picking (on top of three "Top Stories" to boot!). Enjoy!
Oh, and in case you forgot, ENTERPRISE in on tonight.
Name That Van Halen Song of the Day: Yesterday's answer was ICE CREAM MAN, off their debut album, VAN HALEN, from '78. Although but a twinkle in my parents' eyes back then, I undoubtedly feel the power of the Mighty VH's arrival everytime I listen to the first record (err, CD). Anyway, the complete lyric was: "...puddin' pie banana, dixie cups! All flavors and push-ups too, I'm your ice cream man, stop me when I'm passin' by!" Yesterday's winner was FSULawJM. Congrats, even though you're a Seminole (Go Gators).
Today we'll try something a little harder just for fun: on what song did Eddie debut his trademark tapped harmonic technique? To win, be the first to answer correctly in the Talkback.
