The official STAR TREK
web site has posted its final production report of the season, as the ENTERPRISE crew prepares for its 10-week hiatus. "The Expanse" was a fitting end to the season, according to the report, requiring the most interior sets and guest actors since the series pilot "Broken Bow."
Adding to the UPN synopsis that confirmed the previously reported plot points yesterday (story), the production report says that after a mysterious attack on Earth, "Ambassador Soval informs Archer that the Delphic Expanse is notorious for bizarre occurrences, and few ships that enter it are ever seen again ... leading Archer to liken it to the Bermuda Triangle. Believing there will be a second attack, Archer tries to convince Starfleet to let him take Enterprise into the Delphic Expanse to seek out this mysterious new enemy."
The list of sets for the episode includes a Klingon ship bridge, Klingon High Council Chamber, Vulcan ship bridge, an Inspection Pod, Admiral Forrest's Office, a Suliban vessel, the temporal chamber, San Francisco's Chinatown, the Starfleet headquarters exterior and even a Starfleet hanger first to be glimpsed in "First Flight" on May 14th.
The guest cast includes:
- Gary Graham as 'Soval'
- John Fleck in his first appearance as 'Silik' in "Shockwave, Part II"
- Vaughn Armstrong as 'Admiral Forrest'
- Daniel Riordan as 'Duras' from "Judgment"
- James Horan as 'Future Guy'
- Serena Scott Thomas as Archer's romantic interest 'Rebecca'
