Happy tax day to our American visitors!

Although there are a few interesting top headlines late today, I just can't go another day without a Tribblets column. Plenty of bits occurred over the weekend and through today, so here's the latest round-up.

Name That Van Halen Song of The Day
No time for a new question today but Friday's answer was BEAUTIFUL GIRLS, off VAN HALEN II. The complete lyric was: "All the bills are paid, I got it made in the shade / All I may na-need is a woman, understand?" Friday's winner was Paulo; congrats, fellow Halenite!

Today's Tribblets:

  • Creative Planet Communities has a feature article on the creation of the recent TREK UNCUT promos running on The New TNN.

  • The New TNN will become Spike TV on June 1st. The home of ST:TNG on cable hopes the name change will wash away any vestige of its "Nashville" beginnings and appeal to men.

  • Dark Horizons has new reports on the teaser trailer and production of Jonathan Frakes's film THUNDERBIRDS.

  • Laurence Luckinbill ('Sybok') has been named a distinguished alumni 2002-2003 of Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas.

  • Troops flying from Fort Lewis to Kuwait City recently booed STAR TREK NEMESIS off the in-flight movie list according to Tribnet.

Yesterday's Tribblets:

  • Patrick Stewart ('Picard') presented poet Simon Armitage with a British Academy of Film & TV Arts (BAFTA) award last night.

  • Treknation has reviewed the latest S.C.E. e-book AGE OF UNREASON, and posted part two of its Grand Slam XI coverage.

  • X2 producer Ralph Winter (STAR TREK IV, VI) talks about the Patrick Stewart ('Picard') film at XFan.

  • The Chicago Sun-Times and Newsday praise UPN for its ambitious "hip-hop drama" PLATINUM, debuting tonight on the network.

  • The El Paso Times talks to the Texas legislator leading the effort to rename the portion of I-10 through the city after Gene Roddenberry.

Weekend Tribblets:

  • MediaPlay will bundle a bonus disc containing desktop wallpapers, a new screensaver and IPIX environments of the Warbird Valore and Romulan Senate with the NEMESIS DVD. Thanks to Matt Klamm.

  • Kate Mulgrew will appear on the syndicated CAROLINE RHEA SHOW April 22nd according to TotallyKate.

  • Patrick Stewart's play THE MASTER BUILDER will run Jun 2-7 at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre after its May 26-31 run at the Royal Theatre, Bath.

  • The UK E-1 convention has been cancelled due to low ticket sales. All tickets will be refunced within 28 days.

  • Roddenberry.com is offering the chance to donate a STAR TREK script to coalition troops abroad for just a $1 donation. Visit the site and enter "0002" in the search box to recieve the info. Thanks to SyFy Portal.
