For the third straight week, UPN's ENTERPRISE overnight rating pushes the series to a new low. "The Crossing" turned in a 3.9/6 two weeks ago and last week's "Judgment" fell to 3.8/6. Both episodes were the lowest overnight rating of 2003 for the series at the time, and both went on to register significant declines in audience size and final ratings, with the latter becoming the least-watched episode of the series ever, to this point (
story). And it may get worse before it gets any better.
Last night's first-run presentation of "Horizon" suffered the most yet, giving up three more tenths of a point compared to "Judgment" (story) to arrive at 3.5/5 in Wednesday's overnight figures, according to MediaWeek. This is now the lowest overnight rating of the year and just narrowly remains above the all-time low set by "Vanishing Point" last November (3.4). The series is now a full point below its 2003 peak of 4.5/7 with February's "Cease Fire."
"Horizon" bested the WB's DAWSON'S CREEK (2.9/5) handily, however, the nightly average put UPN again in the last place (2.8/4). Marc Berman's Programming Insider characterized last night's showing as another "Wednesday of seesaw viewership" for UPN and the WB. The TREK network hasn't fared particularly well this week, with the debut of the much-hyped drama PLATINUM in its regular timeslot Tuesday night off 35% from its BUFFY lead-in and 26% from its Monday night preview episode, a performance Berman calls "disappointing."
