Final Ratings: "Horizon" Hauls Series V's Lowest Numbers Ever

Last week's first-run presentation of ENTERPRISE's "Horizon" showed no signs of improvement in the ratings wars, delivering the lowest overnight rating of 2003 (3.5/5, story) , and drawing the smallest audience yet for any new episode. According to the Los Angeles Times, overall viewership was down last week due to the approaching Easter holiday and several sports preemptions in major markets certainly didn't make things easier for the UPN series.

In the final numbers, available from the L.A. Times and USA Today, "Horizon" was watched by 3.36 million viewers--now the smallest audience in ENTERPRISE's two-season history. "Judgment" held the crown for a week after its 3.69 million viewers inched below "Vanishing Point"'s 3.78m last November (story). Overall, even top performers like Fox's AMERICAN IDOL saw a dip in viewership last week, dropping from over 20 million the previous week to just under that figure last Tuesday.

"Vanishing Point" and "Dawn," however, were joined by "Judgment" as the series' lowest Nielsen performers, with 2.5/5 ratings. Until last week. "Horizon" delivered a final household rating of 2.2/4, the lowest of any first-run ENTERPRISE episode. This means that roughly 2.2% of the country's 106 million television households were watching the show last Wednesday while nearly 4% of the households watching television at the time were watching ENTERPRISE.

The WB's DAWSON'S CREEK trumped ENTERPRISE in the ratings for the first time in recent weeks, earning a 2.4/4, but attracting less viewers, an estimated 3.12 million.

This show might make to the end of Season 3 if it's lucky. B&B might want to consider coming up with an early series finale for next year.

This series is so heading towards cancellation. We will be lucky if it manages to churn up season 4.
I told B&B; prequel would backfire..people look towards star trek as a vehicle to expose them towards new, fantastic, and uncharted space with cutting edge sci-fi. This whole series is lamely re-visiting where we have already gone before.

The greatest trek that I enjoy is DS9. I have been buying the seasons on DVD and I want to watch the whole season in one sitting because its that compelling. What I am getting at is that if I miss an episode of ENT, I am not that upset. I tape the episodes so its not that I won't see it, but I can watch it later. I was never that way with DS9 (its the best) and I was more eager to see TNG (VOY what??). The reason I like DS9 was that each ep did not always have a clear cut moral story. ENT sometimes feels like a morning childrens show set in the future. This ship is barely armed and has pissed off races that would have blasted them to pieces. They got gulped up by a very large ship but they still got a way....what? It needs to be more realistic to what they are coming across. Every ep does not have to be a lesson learned for the good. I want to see a major screw up beyond all things that will show how humanity beats the odds without a clear plan more often. I don't like predictable eps. DS9 had plenty of non predictable eps which is why its writing was the best and most underrated. I hope all the talk about season 3 being done quite differently is true.

This show is getting GOOD. Judgement was excellent and Horizon was great.

There hasn't been a bad episode since Vanishing Point. Why aren't the fans watching??

It's getting annoying.

A lot of similiarities,

both sinking/and or sunk.

Titanic had a band playing till the end. ENTERPRISE has B&B singing "It's gonna be better. It'
s gonna be better!" til the very end.

TITANIC had annoying LEO taking his time to die at the end. ENTERPRISE has annoying aliens of the week with viewers who hope they'd die.

KATE WINSLET'S breasts
T'POl' s bre... sorry got distracted

TITANIC had a goofy theme song.
ENT has a goofy theme song

TITANIC had an iceberg.ENT has T'POL. Same thing.
