For the first time in weeks, a brand new episode of ENTERPRISE improved on its immediate predecessor's overnight rating. "The Crossing," "Judgment" and "Horizon" all suffered overnight declines, reaching as low as 3.5/5 last week for "Horizon," the lowest fast national figure for the series in 2003 and above only the overnight for November's "Vanishing Point" (
story).
Last night's first-run presentation of "The Breach" reclaimed losses suffered last week with a 3.8/6, according to Zap2it (MediaWeek's 'Programming Insider' is on hiatus this week). "Breach" returns the struggling prequel series to the mark set by "Judgment" on April 9th. Last night's recovery suggests that an inordinate number of preemptions and the approaching Easter holiday, which affected viewership across the board last week, may have contributed to ENTERPRISE's dip.
Today's numbers are a welcome respite from the full point below 2003's peak of 4.5/7 ("Cease Fire") that "Horizon" experienced seven days ago. "Breach" remains low for the series overall, however, below all but three episodes in the fast national rankings.
Director Robert Duncan McNeill's "Breach" defeated his own competing episode of DAWSON'S CREEK in the same timeslot, giving UPN the fifth place at 8p behind a #1 Fox, #2 CBS, #3 NBC and #4 ABC. UPN and WB tied overall for the night with an average of 3.1/5, behind NBC in the top spot, Fox, CBS and ABC.
