Paramount Gears Region 2 DVD Release for ENTERPRISE in 2003

ENTERPRISE may only be in its second season on UPN, but Paramount Netherlands is currently preparing the fifth STAR TREK series for DVD Region 2 release.

In an interview with the Netherlands STAR TREK Fan Club, Willem Goverde from Paramount Netherlands reported that the ENTERPRISE European VHS releases would be discontinued due to low sales. Instead, Paramount intends to release the series on DVD in season box sets like the recent DVD releases of THE NEXT GENERATION and DEEP SPACE NINE.

Plans are in the works, Goverde said, for the release of the complete first season in a Region 2 DVD box set at the end of 2003, though the release date has yet to be announced. There are no reports of a Region 1 DVD release in the United States or other parts of the world at this time.

Paramount Home Video, in the meantime, has already begun work on preparing VOYAGER for DVD release. No release dates have been announced at this time. You can read the original report here.

Yes! I'm looking forward to the DVD release and plan to buy it! The bad news is, of course, that the VHS sale wasn't good. The DVD's are cheaper so I really hope the sale will be better.

Perhaps I should grab it while I can.. in case it gets cancelled too.

Who in their right mind at Paramount thought anyone watching Enterprise would be at all interested in purchasing the series on outdated 1970's technology!

They obviously have no idea about their viewers and the DVD release should be brought out much earlier.
