It is finally here. Something that will please the most hearty of TrekWebers, who have grown complacent with the phrase "coming soon" for several years. Yes, that's right, you can now (unless it blows up) search all TrekWeb's stories, Talkback comments, and bulletin board posts. That includes news, features, newsbits and everything else.
I've tried to anticipate all sorts of contingencies and have developed a Basic Search and an Advanced Search. For basic, just enter a keyword or phrase in the little box that now appears in the left-hand column. If you visit advanced, you'll see all sorts of handy date and customization options. It's all possible thanks to my quick learning of PHP. After years of begging my friend--Jason Boxman--who consructed the entire system four years ago, I have finally done it myself. Special thanks go to Jason for creating the database and software that TrekWeb has run on since 2000.
So now you can find all those old BBS posts you thought were gone forever. You can go read news articles written so long ago I shudder to see the level of professionalism in evidence. You can look for things that interest you, features you barely remember, or that post you saw a few weeks ago but can't remember where. Give it a try and if something breaks, or there's a problem in some obscure browser I don't have access to, drop me a line.
Van Halen enthusiasts... I promise a Song of the Day soon!
