It's been a week since the last tribblets round-up, mainly because the news bits column has been pretty vacant most of the week. But at the risk of going any longer without a round-up, here are the week's smaller STAR TREK news stories.

This Week's Tribblets:

  • Patrick Stewart will join the cast of REMAINS OF THE PIANO>, a spoof of Merchant Ivory costume dramas also starring Geoffrey Rush, Angelica Houston and others. Production begins in Canada in August.

  • FilmJerk has reviewed the pilot script for Ronald D. Moore (writer, TNG, DS9, GEN, FC)'s new HBO series CARNIVALE.

  • Robert Picardo answered fan questions at BBC Wiltshire recently.

  • Bryan Fuller's WONDER FALLS has been postponed by Fox until January 2004, according to The Advocate.

  • William Shatner will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award in the First Annual Spacey Awards from the Canadian SPACE Network on June 26th.

  • George Takei ('Sulu') made a brief appearance as himself in last night's WATCHING ELLIE on NBC.

  • Patrick Stewart ('Picard') donated £50,000 to the British Labour Party earlier this year according to the Guardian.

  • The Orgeon county that had put out a call for a Klingon interpreter over the weekend to ensure full accessibility for mental health clients has rescinded the move after headlines made light of the decision, stressing that no public money has been spent on Klingon.

  • UK's Sky One will broadcast a series of episodes featuring "TREK Babes" according to The Great Link.

  • Slashdot has reviewed Wil Wheaton ('Wesley')'s forthcoming weblog and autobiographical book DANCING BAREFOOT.

  • You can send congratulations to ENT producer/writer Brannon Braga on his 100th episode ("Bounty") at his official web site.

  • Multnomah County, Oregon has decided to add Klingon to its 55 supported languages for relations with mental health clients.

OT: a quote I found that's interesting, to say the least

Here's the relevant quote from Brannon Braga:

"Sure, we could have made it the Romulans that attacked Earth. But haven't we seen the Romulans for the past 15 years? Do we really just want to keep seeing the Romulans? No. We've got to do new stuff. We've got to keep pushing the boundaries."

I could say similar things about this joker and his partner in crime.

I am sick of those bloody Oregonians interfering in Klingon matters...

First they force the Oregonian Peace Treaty in TOS' Errand of Mercy and I find out centuries before...

the Klingon language support blurbs were consolidated. They're related, and the way they're listed in the Tribblets makes it look like one Oregon county pulled the plug while another just started it up.
