I remember hearing the news of Kelley's passing after returning from Austin Powers. It is a day I remember each year and spend a few minutes reflecting on how he impacted my life. I was having trouble coping with my grandfather's death back in the very early 90's and watching DeForest in movies and reruns of Star Trek helped ease the pain I was feeling. I suppose it was the grandfather quality he had. When I found out he had died, it really impacted me. I shed some tears for a while whenever I saw him on screen, tears for him mixed with tears for my grandfather.
Good bless DeForest Kelley.

He died the same day of the year as John Wayne? History is indeed interesting, especially when this grimful day is shared by notable events for Austin Powers, Sir Barton, Simon Cowell, Columbus, and Charles Lindbergh.

June 11, 2003 is the four year anniversary of DeForest Kelley ('McCoy')'s passing.

Dang four years already. The world lost a great man that day.

Nevertheless DeForest Kelley's legacy shall reign eternal. Indeed, he was one hell of a man, and one damn fine actor.

I remember the day he passed away. It was a shock to me. Later that night, I heard Conan comment about his death and utter the words, "He's dead Jim!"

Indeed I thought that joke was in very poor taste, and haven't watched any of Conan's crap ever since.

Anyways, I just wanted to say a few lines to honor DeForest Kelley's memory. God rest his soul.
