STAR TREK NEMESIS hit U.S. shelves last month, opening its first five days as the #1 purchased DVD, edging out ANTWONE FISHER with 1.3 million copies sold (
story). Although DVD sales numbers are not available from Video Scan's First Alert chart, the
Hollywood Reporter has published ranking data through the week ending May 31st.
The tenth TREK pic fell to the #4 spot behind three new releases: THE RECRUIT (#1), NATIONAL SECURITY (#2), and THE PIANST (#3). The second week data also shows that NEMESIS sold only a quarter of the amount of copies moved by THE RECRUIT, indicated by a relative volume index that lists products in relation to percentage of the top-selling DVD's sales figures.
Rental data accounts for the film's first 19 days of availability, reporting that NEMESIS has raked in $27 million dollars in rental sales, nearly 63% of its total domestic box office ($43m). NEMESIS took the sixth spot in Video Store Magazine's chart of rentals for the week ending June 8th. This is 19% less than the previous week's #5 finish, pulling in roughly $7.35 million for the most recent week. NEMESIS made $10.6 million dollars in rental revenue in its first five days.
