Sci-Fi Wire has published more remarks from the ENTERPRISE contingent at the Television Critic's Association press tour yesterday, revealing more plot details about what's in store for the upcoming third season.

"What you see are guys that have spent the entire hiatus trying to position the show and new scripts and new ideas, and they're rethinking everything," said Scott Bakula of producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. "They spent all of their energy creating this new place. And now they're peopling it. And we're discovering it."

The former QUANTUM LEAP star went on to say of his 'Jonathan Archer', "The idea of being the peaceful 'We-come-in-friendship' [guy], ... that guy is gone."

Sci-Fi also reports that Berman revealed that the new Xindi storyline will eventually merge and tie into the on-going Temporal Cold War and Suliban storyline in the second half of the season.

In addition, the site writes that Connor Trinneer's 'Trip' may "find himself more intimately involved with ['T'Pol'] than ever before," as he explores his anger in the wake of his sister's death at the hands of the Xindi and turns to the Vulcan for guidance.

I have given enrerprise every chance but now 'the we come in peace Archer is gone' then what star trek stood for died with it.

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.

While this new information is actually good news, but I think Trip should be seeing Phlox instead, for the only reason that Phlox doesn't have enough air time and Trip and T'Pol get too much.

Waiting for season 3 to tell the tale

This is the critical year for ENTERPRISE. It may not be appropriate on the face of it to have Archer mimicking 20th century behavior, but they are humans after all. Star Trek has always done best when it mirrors what is going on in our world today. The first two years were a boring escapade. There was nothing significant driving the series except the Star Trek affiliation, which was ironically dropped from the title.

It's funny how they say that it's not their (B&B's) writing and approach to ENT that has caused the decline, but at the same time they're re-thinking everything.

Well, this is probably the last year of ENT unless they figure out what they're actually being paid to do. Unfortunately, many people will not return to the franchise until one of the B's leaves the franchise, and I think you know which B must go. I mean, what's more important, defending an impotent ruler or moving things forward productively?

I vote for the health of the franchise.

Two thoughts....

First, glad to see that they are spending so much time "thinking" about the show. Let's just hope that it is more about creative juice than marketing analysis.

Two, the ""The idea of being the peaceful 'We-come-in-friendship' [guy], that guy is gone" quote...wouldn’t Gene be proud!

You know, personally, I'm worn out with all the "you know, what ENTERPRISE really needs is..." jive.

Bottom line, what ENT needs is a good year...well…I suppose we'll even take a fair year. What makes for a good year? Well, isn't that why they pay the "big bucks" to the "smart people" at Paramount?

If this was a pure, corporate environment...how many of you would still have your jobs, or at the very least the same responsibilities?

I fear the way they will fire "them" is to fire ENTERPRISE (talk about biting the hand that feeds you).

I’ve been a fan since 1966. It hurts to watch it all (POTENTIALLY) go down with a whimper.

So, the Xindie storyline will "eventually" tie into the Suliban story and the TCW, eh... Didn't it, uh, already DO that? With the whole info from the future thing? And, y'know, the SULIBAN?

...more intrigued at the potential in-fighting among the Xindi species. Might make for good drama if there are "Good" Xindi and "Bad" Xindi.

Also nice of them to follow-up on the now-infamous Trip/T'Pol decon scene in the pilot episode.

To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before...

Space The Final Frontier.
These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise.
Its 5 year mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations.
To boldly go where no man has gone before.

Ummmm I guess they somehow got the "lets go out looking for war mentality". Trek is so far off the path that is horrifically sad!

Well this does sound better than the last quotes. Perhaps the show will get better. I will still remain cautiously optimistic.

Actually, the idea of Trip turning to T'Pol to learn how to control his emotional grief is VERY interesting; the first ENT idea I've heard in over year that's got my attention.

I suppose there is no reason why these two (the best characters on the show--bar none) couldn't be paired off. After all, we all had no problem accepting Sarek and Amanda (and later Perrin)...so a budding Trip/T'Pol romance isn't all that far-fetched.
