The Great Link reports that British magazine SFX has printed detailed spoiler synopses for episodes three and four of ENTERPRISE's upcoming third season. "Extinction" is penned by Andre Bormanis and directed by LeVar Burton, and has the crew of the NX-01 arriving at a deserted jungle planet only to soon mutate into strange alien creatures.
"Due to her apparent Vulcan immunity, T’Pol mutation falls short, so the other three take her hostage for a trip to an alien city they call Urquat," the magazine prints. "Trip leads a rescue team which recaptures Reed. Hoshi and Archer escape and T’Pol elects to remain with them. Using the universal translator, she is able to communicate with Archer, causing him to question his new self."
The adventure continues when two alien vessels arrive, announcing that the planet is under quarantine and revealing that the mutation effect was the planet's civilization's answer to sterility long ago, but it produced a dangerous viral side effect that has to be contained.
"Archer, Hoshi and T’Pol reach Uquat, only to find that it was destroyed long ago by decontamination teams. Trip leads a rescue mission to Urquat and a fight ensues. Trip is able to get the away team back onboard Enterprise, which goes to warp. The aliens pursue."
The episode ends when Phlox finds the cure, the crewmembers are restored, and Archer sympathetically freezes the last remnants of the mysterious aliens in a flask.
"Rajiin," written by new writer Brent V. Friedman and directed by veteran helmer Mike Vejar, concerns the crew's visit to a strange island bazaar where the concubine 'Rajiin' seeks refuge with Archer.
"Raijin is able to seductively hypnotise and scan beings and wipe the memory of her acts," SFX reveals. "It turns out she’s a spy for the Xindi and has already scanned Archer and Hoshi. When she tries to scan T’Pol, the Vulcan struggles and is knocked out. Trip discovers Raijin and barely avoids getting his head bashed in..."
Rajiin's Xindi overlords will stop at nothing to get the data she's carrying about human physiology to assist in creation of a new super-weapon against Earth.
"Heavily armed Xindi-Reptilians and Xindi-Insectoids board Enterprise," the report continues. "Their weaponry and armour give them the upper hand over the Enterprise troops (MACOs), allowing them to seize Raijin and depart. The Xindi ships escape via a subspace portal which forms suddenly in space."
The NX-01 is left with a dead Xindi-Reptilian to study and Rajiin tries desperately to tell the Xindi Council that humanity isn't evil to no avail.
