ST:TNG and ST:DS9 actor Colm Meaney ('Miles O'Brien') is keeping busy these days, with two new films screening at international film festivals and a role in a movie for TNT that could become a series.

According to Yahoo! News, Meaney has been cast as 'Cuthbert Gibbons' in the cable adaptation of author Anthony Bruno's novel, BAD APPLE. Starring alongside LAW & ORDER actor Chris Noth, who is also executive producing the project, Meaney will become embroiled in the New York crime scene with his FBI partner (Noth).

The project is scheduled to begin production in Montreal and New York this month. Meanwhile, the TREK actor's film THE BOYS FROM COUNTY CLARE will make its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next week, and another film, INTERMISSION, debuted in Ireland August 29th.

INTERMISSION stars Colin Farrell as a thief who becomes wrapped up in a love story. Meaney plays the police chief in the film, which is scheduled to open in the United Kingdom November 21st after a screening at the Toronto fest as well.

Check out the BAD APPLE release here and more information about INTERMISSION at the film's official web site.

Glad Colm is staying busy. Would love to see him playing the chief ag

I'm glad Colm Meaney has some new projects going. He's a versatile actor. I've seen him playing a few roles in American movies and TV shows. But to be selfish, I'd love to see him back in the Starfleet uniform in a DS9 reunion project. Maybe an adaptation of the upcoming novel Unity which is supposed to mark the return of Captain Sisko. I don't know if O'Brien is in the book or not, but the writers at Pocket have certainly made use of the character in the re-launch novels by bringing him and the rest of his family into the story. If Unity is really the return of Sisko, I certainly hope they have O'Brien on the station for it.

Regards,
Brad
